Posted on 25th February 2019 at 15:15
Jay is one of our BTEC Sports Tutors in the North West, teaching at Salford Red Devil's Academy and Dragon Football Academy
Jay's background includes a 2-year Level 3 Sports BTEC course at college which allowed him to progress onto Higher Education, Jay attended The University of Central Lancashire for 3 years where he undertook his degree in Sports Studies. Upon completion of his undergraduate he decided to pursue a career in teaching, which led him to complete his Postgraduate Certificate in Education ("PGCE") at Edge Hill University. It was during this time that Jay joined us to complete his teaching placement at our Sport & Education Academies, and upon completion of his teaching qualification, Jay secured a full-time position with us.
"I have always wanted to teach and deliver sports, my main driver was that I wanted to help young people get into sports and achieve their goals and aspirations. I also have positive past experiences of my own teachers that inspired me to want to give something back and pursue a career where I could also make a real difference to the lives of young people."
BEST THING ABOUT WORKING FOR ONSIDE EDUCATION
"The people! Everyone is very friendly and it really makes the job enjoyable, in that we all get along very well and although it is a professional environment it still maintains a fairly relaxed atmosphere where we can all have a laugh while doing our work."
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU
"For me it is all about seeing my students perform and achieve those high results that will allow them to progress into whatever they want to, seeing them proud and happy over their accomplishments is what makes teaching worthwhile for me."

That or securing my first full-time teaching position here at Onside immediately after finishing my PGCE."
"The Gym!! keeping fit and regularly going to the gym is a major part of my life- I try and go at least 4 or 5 times a week. Then as well as that I enjoy Football, Cricket, playing FIFA and watching action films."
