Last Wednesday saw the 4th round national cup game; Rochdale Sacred Heart Academy v Isports Altrincham FC.. Although RSH faced a 2-1 defeat we caught up with man of the match George Davidson who explained that there were plenty of positives the lads could take from this game to kick off 2018...

'We worked really hard, we luckily got a goal from the penalty but we really gave it our all, we put everything into the match from start to finish. It was unfortunate that we couldn’t really do much about the striker at the end who scored to bring the score to a 2-1 defeat for us, he got around me- bit too fast and pretty strong as well haha! We can be proud though as we stayed strong against them, I mean the last time we played them it was a 7-1 defeat so to come away with only a 2-1 defeat is definitely progress. It was a really good game and we really worked our backsides off- we couldn’t have done anymore it just wasn't’t our day haha! so there’s plenty of positives which we can take away from the match to come back even stronger next time. Games like this do really help to motivate everyone as it makes us all want to improve and fight back. The focus now is on the league and we’re ready to push on and do the best we can, I'm feeling pretty positive about 2018 and as a team we’re just going to continue to work hard and see what happens'.

George's comments reflect a maturity within the team and a drive to continue an upward progression in the league, which if they maintain giving 100% in their performances then results will surely follow, we at Onside are extremely proud of the boys and will continue to follow their progress keenly throughout the rest of 2018!
